The moment you've finished putting together your perfect mix CD-after months of searching, culling, organizing, burning and ripping-you turn on the radio or put your iTunes on random and there it is: the ultimate song you should have used. It mocks you with the way it fits the theme perfectly, its cadence and verve, its awesomeness. This is the song you should have used, and if you could somehow go back in time and remake that last Salmagundi it would definitely have included this song, but it's too late. You missed your chance. The self-loathing sets in.
But wait! Now, on the two-year anniversary of the start of Salmagundi, you're getting a chance to fix it all. To totally turn your life around! Use this extra disc as a place for all of those missed opportunities. Didn't participate in a disc and really wish you had just to share one or two perfect gems? Go for it. as for my lack of immediate interest in this one, it's simply a matter of time for me. i knew i wouldn't be able to get it done on time – so i was choosing to pass.
i like the idea as a theme, as i've definitely looked at the older themes and wished i could have participated. the timing was just off for me.
koos – i appreciate all the time you're putting into this, and i definitely want it all to continue. hopefully i'm not bringing the gundi down! i'd love to keep the music comin.
